Our campaign continues to build steam! Here’s a quick update for you:
My candidacy has been certified by the Board of Supervisors of Elections. If you missed the email, here is a link.
We are thrilled to announce several great endorsements from Dick Franyo, Ellen Moyer, Dylan Behler, Saiza Elayda and Vic Pasco. Go to our endorsement page to read what they have to say.
It’s been another couple of weeks filled with meetings with residents and business owners as well as attending City Council meetings and Boards and Commission meetings. A lot of work going on to address the needs of our city.
Last week’s City Council meeting included vehicle towing contracts and changes to staff and executive pay ranges, both of which directly impact Ward 8 and illustrate the need for dedicated and responsible leadership in Ward 8.
Preventing crime in Annapolis continues to be a focus area for me. In addition to the two “Coffee with a Cop” sessions held at Leeward Market, I’ve had several very informative conversations with our Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Police concerning law enforcement. I also had the honor of attending “The Progress Continues Lest We Forget” ceremony and dinner honoring 65 years of African American Officers of the Annapolis Police Department.
Last week, the Historical Preservation Commission approved the new Maritime Welcome Center plan with a 4-0 vote. The briefing and dialogue were extensive, lasting more than four hours and I was impressed to see the robust attendance from Annapolis and Anne Arundel County leaders. For additional insights, read Mayor Buckley’s newsletter.
I’m exceptionally appreciative of the support I’m receiving from Eastporters. It’s been heartwarming to hear the passion for our maritime culture, the concern for our great community and the desire to make it even better. If you would like to get involved in our campaign, please sign up here.
I’m continuing my listening tour, meeting new people and hearing your concerns. I think this is the best way to get to know you, my fellow residents, and the issues you care about. If you are interested in getting together, please sign up here or email us at info@frank4ward8.com.
All the best,
Frank Thorp
